Industry Calls for Urgent EU Dialogue as PPWR Guidance Leaves Critical Gaps

With only five months to go before the PPWR applies, the reality for Europe’s packaging value chain is clear: uncertainty remains high, and the window to act is closing.

“With only five months left before the PPWR's application, industry is still operating without the clarity it needs to comply. The risk is no longer theoretical: uncertainty is already holding back critical investments and weakening competitiveness. The Commission’s Guidance Notice is a step, but it falls short of providing what businesses need to invest, innovate, and deliver on the Regulation’s ambitions. Time is running out. What we need now is a high-level dialogue with the Commission and Member States to close the implementation gaps and restore the clarity businesses urgently need,” says Francesca Stevens, Secretary General of EUROPEN.

What’s needed now is urgent, high-level engagement between EU institutions and industry to provide the clarity required for businesses to move forward with confidence.
