Industry calls for the simplification, digitalisation & harmonisation of Extended Producer Responsibility and an EPR Digital One-Stop Shop

EUROPEN joins the call for simplification, digitalisation, and harmonisation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) — including the creation of a Digital One-Stop Shop.

As a cornerstone of EU waste management and key lever to achieve circular economy goals, EPR must work efficiently — yet today’s fragmented and increasingly complex frameworks are creating barriers to compliance, innovation, and competitiveness.

We welcome the European Commission’s commitment to a Digital One-Stop Shop, as announced in the Single Market Strategy, and urge policymakers to:

• Establish a legal basis for a digital one-stop shop in the upcoming Circular Economy Act
• Support the digitalisation of existing and future EPR registries
• Advance harmonisation of EPR frameworks across Member States wherever possible
