EUROPEN reaction to leaked draft PPWR Legal Notice

EUROPEN expresses concerns over the recently leaked Draft Legal Notice on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Despite our industry’s commitment to support the effective implementation of the PPWR and constant efforts to provide technical input, practical solutions, and evidence-based recommendations to help ensure that the Regulation remains workable, the draft fails to offer the clarity companies urgently need.

With the PPWR set to apply in just eight months, the industry warns that the document leaves critical questions unanswered and, in several instances, worryingly expands beyond the legal framework and the agreement reached by the co-legislators. Companies need clarity today to plan investments, adapt supply chains and secure full compliance within the implementation timelines foreseen by the Regulation.
